It all started...

...with a Kodak Ektra from the 1940s.  It was a gift from my uncle who was a photographer.  At the age of eight, I started taking pictures.  You will never see those early pictures.  Let's just say my photography progressed over time.

As I learned, I was also immersed in the advertising photography and sports photography of the day.  Those images are what eventually drove my passion and creative vision.  It might also explain why I have been involved with advertising and marketing most of my life.

Straddling both sides of the industry, my photography seeks to capture the essence of a product to sell or the inner emotion and spirit that animates an individual portrait.

But, don't be fooled.  You will also see a fair share of sports photography in my portfolio - especially Women's Flat Track Roller Derby.   Flat track roller derby found its resurgence 16 years ago with all volunteer skater leagues.  From training and coaching to bout day production, these leagues provide women a way to learn not only physical skills that make roller derby fun to watch but, also team building skills, management skills, and organizational skills in an empowered environment.

It is always a privilege to be looking for the best shot to capture not just the energy and emotion of competition but, also the discipline and hard work that goes into being a roller derby skater.
